The PC isn’t ready to die, it’s ready for a rebirth

Desktops sales have slowed because manufacturers have let their designs stagnate, but the need for a comfortable machine you can work on hasn’t gone away. Who will reinvent the PC and reap the rewards?

Every other week, there seems to be story about the PC dying. This week, it was because Intel is planning on exiting the motherboard business. The screwy thing is, I think the exact opposite is about to happen. Not only is the desktop not dead, it’s about to go through a resurgence. We’re just waiting for that visionary vendor who realizes that bigger is still better, and this Lemming-like agreement that the desktop is dead is holding people back. Here’s why.

I want to scream this from a mountain top. I hope, beyond hope, that Apple pulls it's head out of it's consumer driven ass and makes a great new PC. I need a new desktop like you would not believe.

Hipsters stunned as vintage cameras fail to make them professional photographers

The international hipster community is in shock this week after the purchase of a vintage Polaroid camera by a young hipster failed to bring him instant acclaim as a gritty, original, yet quirky photographer. Meanwhile, the non-profit Hipster Photographer Rescue has  revealed that “this kind of tragic occurrence is happening so often now that it’s almost become mainstream”. Leaning against the exposed brickwork in his loft-slash-studio, 28-year-old ‘creative’ and part-time barista, Zak Retrough, said that he is “like, shocked?” that his totally deck photographs of his friends looking moody next to some kitchen appliances from the 70′s have continued to be ignored by independent art galleries.

The greater the artist, the greater the doubt. Perfect confidence is given to the less talented as a consolation prize.

Sony RX100 review

The summary judgement for me is that the new Sony RX100 is hands-down the most appealing pocket-sized digital camera yet. Capable of producing DSLR grade images, it's hard to find much to fault with this small pocket wonder. While it is too pricey for many, given that it will almost certainly be a second or even third camera, for demanding quality-conscious photographers looking to own an always-along camera able to produce pro-quality results, the RX100 is not just hard, but for the moment almost impossible to beat.

Wow, glowing review on this pocket cam. May have to upgrade my fuji x100 to this...hmm....

Danklife at Nike World Basketball Festival.

Check out the work we did for the Nike World Basketball Festival. The big white athlete imagery was all done by us. Swapped out the backgrounds, the uniforms, the numbers on the uniforms, the socks and the shoes. As always, fun stuff.  Big thanks to everyone at Nike for the great direction and work on a very complicated project. Over 30 images were completely built from scratch.[gallery link="file" order="DESC" columns="1"]

Thanks goes out to Dina, Corey, David, Jeremy and George!

7 Reasons Why I Can’t Do “Free”

I worked my butt off to make it through business school. I had to work full-time in conjunction with school pretty much from my teens. I’ve been in business for over 20 years. I’ve paid my own dues. I am a professional. My knowledge and expertise, even if it simply a matter of answering one question – has value. It may have taken me over 2,000 working hours just to have the knowledge to answer a brief question skillfully.

Amen... AAAAAAAAAAAAMEN....
