Silver Falls Images

[gallery link="file" columns="2"] Here are some images from the recent Silverfalls hike we went on. I went for a different approach to my composition on this shoot and I am happy with the results. I tried to pull back and really get the falls in the environment not just by themselves. I plan on printing the North Falls Pano on stretched canvas. Excited about getting into that.

The one South Falls shot I made look like a aged beer ad in your favorite pub. That one was cheesy-riffic so I went with it.

Silver Falls, North Falls Panoramic

Went on a the 8.9 (8.7?) mile Silver Falls hike this past weekend. Here is a panoramic I took of the North Falls while there. Awesome hike but my old ass knee started doing funny stuff about mile 5-6.

I should be posting some more images from there shortly. Backed up with work so the fun stuff has to wait. Actually really enjoyed shooting and working on these. Been awhile since I have really enjoyed my own photography. You may know the feeling.

Hand held pano even though I had a tripod with me, go figure...

Beacon Rock Hike

[gallery link="file" columns="2"] Went for a hike at Beacon Rock this weekend. Nice easy hike with some amazing views. You would have to work hard to take a bad photo so there are a few more here.

3 Trees in Spring on Mt Tabor

3 Trees in Spring on Mt Tabor. Just going through the archive and I found some outtakes from a HDR study which failed horribly, but the images on there own are quite nice. So I took it to B&W as is my thing right now.

On a side note, HDR looks great on the web but generally looks horrible printed. Just a FYI to all the Flickr folk out there.

Eagle Creek Trees

Eagle Creek in Oct. Here is a pic from this weekend up in Eagle Creek. Not quite a full B&W but I thought the hint of color is adding a lot of interest. It was also shot at high ISO which is adding some nice texture.

This also is the first post where I am consolidating the blogs to here. So no more Photoblog on it's own. I think having both of them in one should make it more interesting.

River Ride

sellwood-river-park Here is a Pano I tool on the ride the other day with the Canon G9. I really enjoy the look of that bridge coming out of the trees. Then the fishermen and sunbathers just add that summer touch.

Morning Pics

Now I have wet slippers Really been enjoying my mornings in the garden here. Here is a pic of some of the veggies I planted the other day.

Been thinking about killing the original pixelrust photo page as it is almost redundant now. I really like the new wordpress engine running this part better then that one, but I like the single image post as well. It's just clean and simple. So screw it, I'll keep both running simply because it amuses me.

This here pic was taken with my trusty Canon G9. The macro on that thing is fun as all get out. I have a fancy idea of doing a trypdich of these three images (two links there, fyi.). But I have not laid them all out yet. I like these as a sun flare series though.

(I can hear that little voice in my ear going, "Decorative art! BAH!" and I have stabbed it with a rusty swingline stapler.)
